Where the Passion Begins
MARCELO VIERA
4 Dan ISKF
Marcelo Viera began his Karate-do journey in 1989 at the Uruguayan Union of Karate under Sensei Edgardo Auza. As a representative of the International Shotokan Karate Federation (ISKF), Marcelo’s foundation was shaped by the legacy of Master Teruyuki Okazaki and South American Master Juichi Sagara.
After relocating to the United States in 2007, Marcelo continued his development at the Mello Institute of Martial Arts in Westminster as a member of the Almeida International Karate Association (AIKA).
An accomplished competitor, Marcelo’s accolades include:
-
Two-time ISKF Uruguayan National Champion and long-standing National Team member.
-
2022 & 2025 USA ISKF National Champion in Kumite.
-
2025 USA ISKF National Runner-up in Kata.
Today, Marcelo has transitioned his focus from competition toward the deeper spiritual and technical growth of Karate-do. He remains dedicated to the study and application of the Dojo Kun and the Niju Kun (the 20 precepts of Master Funakoshi), guiding students through the traditional principles of the art.
